Today, a number of accounts which were confirmed to have violated the user agreement by using unauthorized third-party software tools within FINAL FANTASY XI to enable abnormal in-game movement were discovered and have been permanently suspended.
Based on the results of an investigation, over 2,000 PlayOnline accounts have been either suspended or terminated on Jul. 21, 2006 for the malicious and intentional use of these third-party tools.
We would like to take this time to remind our players that the use of any third-party tools will not only destroy the in-game balance, but will also encourage RMT (Real Money Trade) activities. We will continue to take strict actions against those individuals that we have confirmed to have used such tools.
Please note that some of these third-party tools may cause character information to be altered, erased, or personal information to be leaked to unwanted third parties. If you come across a third-party tool over the Internet, we ask that you please refrain from the download of such a tool, no matter how minor it may appear to be.
To ensure our customers could enjoy their games safely, we will continue to apply measurements to combat these third-party tools and violations.
We thank you for your cooperation and understanding in this matter.
<ROVEC> 2,000 some odd player accounts. 2,000! That's more at one time then every before. Granted, they didn't say these were RMT accounts but bots and speed hackers and what not are in this group for sure.

We would like to take this time to remind our players that the use of any third-party tools will not only destroy the in-game balance, but will also encourage RMT (Real Money Trade) activities. This is a load of crap that S-E feeds you every single time this subject comes up. Blizzard is about as strict on in-game balance as they can possibly be, and they allow mods, alt-tabbing and all kinds of stuff. On top of that, how the heck can stuff like Windower "encourage RMT". That's a bunch of crap that they're hoping you'll believe.

A Windower is only one type of third party tool. Let me list some others that I'm sure they're talking about.
POS Hacking PL Bot Fish Bot Choco-Dig bot WHM Tele-Vendor bot Guild Camp bot AH camp bot Monster Radar Advanced monster/NM claim bot Flee Hack that you can control to increase movement from 1%-100% (which also detects when other players are nearbye and will turn itself off accordingly) Time of Death bot Tell detection magic skill up bot recast counter utsusemi counter "On Event" bot JPN 2 ENG translator using google's translator Script Editor to make your own scripts/bots True Sight which allows you to see all invisible characters as if they were in your own party.
And that's all from ONE program that you can get for 20 bucks, or for free if you find some cheap illegal site to give ya a download.
What's even more amazing about this? This program uses a windower to function.
While I don't agree that the use of ANY 3rd party tool screws things up. ANY of those listed above will sure as heck unbalance things.
Yes, we know you love WoW. Yes, I'm sure it's a cool game and Blizzard does alot of nice things to keep their players happy. But so does SE, RPGs are what SE does. They are the kings of RPGs, even if this is their first MMO, they know what they're doin'. You cannot argue that FFXI is a sweet game. SE has even mentioned that the rules will change for uncoming MMO titles, so if they made any mistakes in FFXI, they're workin' on fixing it for their next games.

The point is, FFXI isn't adapting to the current gen MMO playerbase, and its losing players to other MMOs because of it.
Yes, FFXI kick butt when it comes to story, that's what S-E does best and I'm not disputing that. But they do have a lot to learn when it comes to keeping an MMO up-to-date. Probably 50% of the features in WoW now, the developers said would never be put into the game because of certain reasons. Now they're in there because the player base wanted them. S-E doesn't seem to work that way.

Lost me I thought the point was that what they said above is a load of crap lol But ya can't make everyone happy. If ya change half of your game to fit what people what, half of the people will love something you did, half of um will hate it cause the player base is never in agreement with anything. ;

Can't please everyone, this is true.
The difference between S-E and Blizzard with their MMO philosophy is this: Blizzard takes things the fans and players want and FINDS a way to put them in-game, even if there was no plans to do so and no reason to do so...S-E just doesn't even bother trying unless it benefits them in some way.

I dont think all people want this "Next Gen" MMO you speak of. Personally I hate the newer ones. I like the fact that I dont have to click a million times to attack. I really prefer FFXI to stay the way it is and just have them add things onto it like they did with ToAU and CoP (Yes... I like CoP Idc what you say bout it) I dont really want to change FFXI much at all. Its awesome the way it is.
Yes its true you cant please everyone, and its apparent that SE didnt please you chad. But Rovec and I are still playing, not because we want the game to be updated a billion times to stay "Next Gen" but because we really truely enjoy the game.
You also said that SE dont do anything for its players that the players want unless it benefits themselves. WoW doesnt either. Check it out. Why does WoW expand their games? To bring in more players. Why does SE expand their games? to bring in more players. Why does WoW update their games w/ "Next Gen" stuff? To attract players like you. Why does SE add more story line? To attract players like me.
The fact of the matter is the games r made to attract certain types of people so these certain types of people will waste money on their software. All companys are the same when it comes down to it.
WoW- Gets People To Play their games to Make Money SE- Gets People To play their games to make money Insurrance Companys - Insures people with low risk to make money Weapons Companys- Sell Weapons to people even though they may harm themselves or others to make money Baby Clothing- Sells baby clothes to make money
So whats every company's intent? To make the customer happy to infact Make Money
Therefore SE still wants to make their players happy so they will continue to make money. Why? Because thats the name of the game. Not WoW, Not FFXI, Not City of Villans, Not Insurrance, Not Baby Clothing or Weapons. Money

.........LolRovec
I still use my Windower, and i really dont see how it unbalances my game play. when i party i dont let my party know that i know their tp. It's just part of the Windowers functionality, though i have recently found out how to turn it off, but i like it on because i like comparing and watchin the TP rise. Recently i got my EXP watch plugin to work too... all it does it keeps count of MY exp Tnl, the average exp per hour and how many mobs i have to kill to lvl. i mean, cmon whats wrong with that? i could do the same thing with a pencil and a pad of paper and take like 30 minutes longer workin it out. this just quickens the process. Now the ones Rov listed are wrong. i've personally had to compete for NMs with people who DO use these kind of tools. It's not fun at all. >.>

EXACTLY Goero! That's one of my points!!! WoW mods do stuff that you already can do manually in-game, they just make it a lot easier and faster. Yet, FFXI bans stuff like this for really no good reason and it pisses me off.
Bots, hacks and the like are obviously cheating and are bannable in FFXI or WoW. But mods that let you do what you already can do in-game or in your head, just quicker and more convenient, have absolutely no degrading value to anything in the game.
Blizzard realizes this and promotes their design, S-E wants to ban as many people as they can because of it.

I myself don't really mind that kinda mod, but I can see why SE would prevent it and windowers. If they wanted to keep everything as fair as possible. Because there are PS2 players that can't browse the web on their PS2 even if they wanted to, SE would prevent anyone from looking up info, because they'd have the upper hand against the PS2 players. Same goes for the mods (unless SE provided a function like that themselves).

yesterday i used my expwatch to find out how much exp per hour i was gettin as a nin in my party. We were actually movin quiet fast for a party in the 20s. at one point we were pullin 5.5k exp an hour later dropped to 4.5k and kinda fell from there as i had to move in new people as people left ; ;

I love my exp per hour/till next level mod for WoW. It tells me the same things your does, how much exp I'm averaging per hour. It also tells me an estimate of how long it'll be before I level. Also, when I kill a mob, it tells me how many more of that particular mob I have to kill before I level (useful when you're grinding/farming one particular type of mob for a while).
Its pretty nifty.

its easy you n00b unzip the file and put it in the plugin folder .expwatch start - Starts logging xp .expwatch stop - Stops logging xp .expwatch reset - Resets XP data .expwatch show - Show the expwatch "bar" .expwatch hide - Hide the expwatch "bar" .expwatch toggle - Toggle visibility of the expwatch "bar" Those are the commands.... Here is an example of how to place em... i7.photobucket.com/albums/y276/Goero/example.jpgYou dont nessesarily have to have the "." in front of em.. in fact i might remove mine since i keep hitting the "/" instead >.> Next.. if you want to set it up like mine (which is a 100% works but you have to turn it off before you log on then return it back on when you want it too.. can be a pain. but i know it works for certain) Go to the scripts folder within your windower If you want it to work like mine make sure you put in the "load Expwatch" Example: i7.photobucket.com/albums/y276/Goero/7294928a.jpgIm going to test it soon to work so i dont have to have the thing up on start up.. if you want to test it for me and give me the results that would be cool too.. i might test it later tonight though. Then just load up the windower.. and voila.. follow the commands you inserted into your command.txt and it should work like a charm. Now if you'll excuse me.. im going to go ahead and test it some more! Edit I figured it out.. and set it all up how i like it.. Taru.. imma do something for you since i dun feel like explaining it @.@... gimme a moment though There.. made a .rar file.. you will need Winrar for this.. use Winrar to unload the file into a folder.. follow the readme and it will work fine. heres the Link to the file... files.filefront.com/expfixrar/;5311361;;/fileinfo.htmlAND DONE No more of that >.> That will be 1 million gil for the hard work! ^^
