I believe I made a post like this one at the other forums, but that may of been just a dream Post a list of your favorite books and authors, include a brief description as well. Artemis Fowl series, by Eoin Coffer (sp) These are great books. about middle school reading level books, but still great. Orson Card. Writer of Ender's game, which used to be my favorite book until I read Ender's shadow. Definetly my all time favorite author. This guys books prove that children are far more manipulative than adults. more to follow at a later time, bells about to ring.

I have a lot of favorite books but here's spme that come to mind: Sara Douglas and her Wayfarer Redemption series. The story starts in a traditional fantasy world setting with swords, angel like race and forest creatures, and ends with space travel with ships and the fact that the human population come from earth.. Anne McCaffrey and her Pern series, more spacehips and humans looking for a new habitable planet, they end up finding Pern a planet populated by intelligent dragons. Jaqueline Carey of Kushiel's Chosen, a story loosely based on the life of Jesus, if you are a hardy catholic look away! The protagonist is a highly priced courtesan with a fetish for pain.. It's not really for the faint of heart. Beautiful work none the same. Jean M Auel Earth Children series, dramatic story of people who lived during the ice age. Guy Gavriel Kay, writes dramatic novels based on mythology and history. Much political intrigue with lovely character development, you feel for each character that's comes into play.

I read a book recently that was really good - The Hero's Crown, by Robin McKinley. Other than that, I don't read much...

First off, shame on Taru and Chad for not reading more I've got too many books I love to list but here are a few. Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman, a book about a world beneath ours and a man who finds a hurt girl and inadvertently falls through a crack and is sweep into this world of hit men, angels, and beasts. Revelation Space by Alastair Reynolds, first in a series of award winning Sci-fi books that deal with the future of the human race (duh Sci-fi), but is written very realistically and is very believable. Great book for anyone who enjoys Sci-fi. The Agony and the Ecstasy by Irving Stone, a classic that everyone should read about the life of Michelangelo. It turns this famous mans life into a beautifully woven story and makes him much more real to the reader then just some long dead white guy. The Family Tree by Sheri S. Tepper, a great book for any fantasy lover. Deals with strange trees that begin to pop up around the world, trees that can think and feel and move. Also has various talking animals and who doesn't love that? This is a great book for the casual reader.

Ender, Shadows, and Maker series written by Orson Scott Card. All three are awesome! Ender's Series is obviously about Ender, which include humans fighting aliens for their lives, in a way. Training children to be commanders at a tender age and then tricking them into being the commanders of their space forces while they unwittingly defeat the Aliens. Shadows series revolves around Bean, the right hand man... or child.. of Ender.. and his life during, and after the war, and his "illness" if youve read the Ender series all the way through. the Shadows series is a MUST Maker series is a different timeline, instead of the USA being completely free, the lower half of the states are still run by the british. A Child is born, the Seventh son of a Seventh son, granting him mysterious powers. as he grows so do his powers. Another awesome series!
mmm I also read the DragonLance series. uhh.. and a bunch others.. but i just finished re-reading the above 3 series just recently.. hence why i was so descriptive ^^

Another Card fan. Orson scott card has got to be my all time favorite. I've read 3 books in the shadow series, and 3 in the enders. I left the enders off and wasn't that interested in picking it back up once I read Ender's Shadow. The shadow series is my all time favorite book series.

Not to be negative but this sounds like a copy cat off of " The Dark Is Rising" by Susan Cooper @_@' Which follows the story of Will (among others). He's the Seventh son of a seventh son and is born with powers because he's the last of The Old Ones, the ones destined to fight off the Dark. Excellent Dark Vs Light series.

meh, it was written in 1987... but Card doesn't steal writin ideas!
He's too smart and too good of a writer. Maybe you should just go rent the book and read it!

He could have stolen it without realizing it? I hate that when it happens to me...in the middle of a brain storm and ya think up this amazing event and you're all psyched...then 5 moments later (after you've already put pen to paper) you think "Wow...wait...no...this was in THe Golden compass. DARN YOU PULLMAN! How dare you think my ideas before I do?!" xD

I'm not following your specific example, but that sort of thing has happened to me before. As Solomon (sp) would say, there's nothing new under the sun.
