Okay I'm trying to level whm to 37 as some of you may know, I know the job well at this point but in the last 2 parties I've hard a difficult time functioning as I should.
Usually I'd expect to be able to buff, amd enfeeble at the beggining of the battle and then cure and maybe enfeeble/buff again if needed. But at the rate my party's member's hp were dropping I find that I'm furiously curing the tank and then one or 2 others who keep taking hate, which totally wipes my mp a lot faster then it should.
The last party I had I couldn't even use Cure 2 and cure 1 wasn't doing much to keep people healthy at all, I was also level 24 in a party of 25-27's in the jungle. We had a blm (who was really great btw) 2 wars, a ninja and a monk. Everytime I casted cure 2 on the ninja (tank) I pulled hate, it got so bad my hp kept being in the red and I was then terrified of casting at all.. I tried to cast regen on myself and the puller too, and guess what that pulled hate too >.>
So, my question is what in the heaven's was I doing wrong if anything? We were fighting goblin furriers in that last party, or was our tank just not tanking?

hmmm the last time I was a mage in the Jungle I was main healing and enfeebeling as a RDM. I really don't recall any problems with hate control. If I had to guess I would say you just had a bad tank, like the one i had today in Qufim. Whm can be pretty difficult, but stick with it and you'll be done in no time ^^

Thanks for the response ^.^ I think it was a bad party setup and I shouldn't have been called upon to help them with goblins at 24. I even asked them if I wasn't too low, but they were like nah you're a mage o.o I guess that's a reasoning that only works with mandies just outside of Kazham...
I have to say I'm gaining of whole new respect for mages especially the healing variety. I always appreciated them but didn't really get just how hard it is sometimes. /cheer for the whms!

I agree with Charron (and in a way Taru..) There's nothin' you can do if your tank sucks Just wait, plds will keep hate much better then ninjas and later down the road ya shouldn't have a problem from either.

Q: What was I doing wrong if anything? A: Partying with a Ninja. >.> You should always regen the tank first. And use lite cures as long as possible. Also Barfira helps alot against the gobs.

if you really find yourself pulling hate a lot I'd suggest getting on somepage or alla and look for any -enmity gear you can wear

Thanks for the tip for regen, as for barfira for gobs, barwatera, barsleepra, those are pretty easy to cast and I try to kepp them up always. As for pulling hate I went back to Quifim to get 25 and never pulled hate once the whole time.. But I'll get to the jungle soon and try again, not too sure there's too may -enmity gear a this level though, haven't seen much so far.

so far looks like most of the good tips have been given
Again, would like to note, if you were lvling with a nin and you had to keep curing him/her it was because the nin couldn't keep up his/her shadows and wasn't debuffing like a good nin should (suggesting that there are good nins?! huh?!) if it was with a paladin, then that paladin is a loser and needs to change his job of choice to ninja >.> Paladin has mp for a reason, and it is NOT to cast Holy or Banish or Banish II or whatever spells we DO get. they should be curing themself and if they aren't Call em a Ninja! any real Paladin will take offense immediatly! the only spells a Paladin should really cast would be a curing spell or Flash, and POSSIBLY Buff spells on himself if the Buff spells the whm/rdm/blm (Whoever it happens to be) are not the best possible ones that are up for that lvl. Probably wont see this unless its a Rdm doing the buffin, as they dont have the really high lvl Protecta and Shellra, and generally cast the AOE which ends up being like protect I or II >.> So aside from that they should be taking care of their own hp as best as they can.
Note! i have never lvled whm past 8! so im lookin at it from the tank point of view on how to help.
Early game, Nins have horrible Hate control, later its a little better for them via the Elemental Cycle. Paladins hold better hate early game ANYDAY against ANY TANK.
So i would say you just had bad luck, Nin wasn't keepin his shadows and wasn't voking and wasn't debuffing to keep continous hate up.

The funniest part of that party was the ninja was to first to desert the party too, when he left the blackmage and the PL he had called to help us and raise me immediately ditched too.. >.>
But anyway I had another party in the jungle fighting mandies and goblins and I had no problems at all, we had two ninjas and a warrior who shared hate and it was awesome. Then the warrior invited me to do rank 5 with his LS later on ^.^
