One of the coolest things about WoW is that you can modify the interface in just about any way you want to fit your playing style. This is one thing that I think FFXI devs are too paranoid about, as Blizzard has no problems with hacking, botting or anything of the sort. They tell you what is and what is not allowed as far as modifications and let you roll with it to suit your playstyle. If something they don't like comes up, they quickly take care of it. S-E is just too lazy, methinks...but anyway, I've been working on my UI a lot lately, and came up with this:
Starting in the upper left we have my character info. Below that is my party info. Below that is the four parties in our raid (this was a 20-man raid). To the right of the raid parties are the main tank targets. We usually have 3-4 tanks and one or two others who are main assists, which are usually rogues or hunters. You click the MT's name and you automatically select their target.
Below the raid parties is a damage meter - it shows damage, healing, who takes the most damage, how much overhealing is done, what abilities do the most damage, what school of magic most of the damage we take comes from and a whole lot of other crap.
Along the bottom section of the screen are three chat windows. The left being my "general" chat, where emotes, rolls, general and trade channels (when in a major city) and other miscelaneous messages come up. The center is for guild, raid, party and private channel chat. The right chat frame is a combat log, which keeps track of combat messages like when you gain or lose a buff/debuff, how much damage you do and how much damage is done to you.
The strip at the very bottom of the screen gives me quick info like where I am, current funds, current durability and the like.
Right above the chat frames are my main hotbars with all the abilities I use during 95% of raiding/pvp-ing. There's the main buttons there above the hotbars on the left, and my bags on the right.
Going up the right side of the screen, we have more hotbars, which are for stuff that I use outside combat mostly, like my profession stuff. Then there's various abilities that I don't change very often, and easy, one-click access to many potions, foods, drinks and bandages that I use.
In the lower right is a threat meter that shows how much threat each person in the raid currently has against the target (a lot of fights we're getting in are very touchy when it comes to aggro - one mistake and it could wipe the raid).
Above that is a quick look at your raid (Raid Status), which is helpful for me when pulling, since I need to watch the mana of the healers and how many dead or afk there are.
Directly above that (right under the mini-map) are the current buffs (blue) and debuffs (red) that are on me. Then, of course, the mini-map.
So, pretty much all the info I need to know at any given point in a raid is displayed on-screen, and I tried to maximize viewable area so the game field isn't covered with a ton of mods blocking the view.
I know you probably didn't want to hear all this, but I spent a lot of time on it so I thought I'd show it off.
